At my core, I believe in backing ambition, inclusion, and excellence, and that’s exactly why I’m proud to support the Australian Powerchair Hockey Team as they prepare for the 2026 IPCH World Championship in Finland.
Our team recently had the privilege of attending the official team announcement and the opening of the new Blacktown Disability Sports Centre, and it was powerful. This facility isn’t just a venue; it’s a symbol of progress and a major step forward for accessibility in Australia.
The Heart of the Game
We also sat down with Kieran Watts, Vice-President of the Australian Powerchair Hockey Association and elite athlete, to talk about the sport’s growth and what this moment means.
“My role is focused on supporting the growth of the sport and ensuring our athletes have the best possible environment to succeed,” Kieran shared. “I first got involved in 2010 as an athlete, and it’s been an unforgettable journey ever since.”
Kieran’s story like so many others in the sport, is built on resilience, teamwork, and a deep love for the game. Powerchair Hockey isn’t just competition; it’s community, connection, and purpose.
Preparing for Greatness
With the Australian Sliders team officially named, the countdown to Finland has begun. Training for the world stage takes strategy, chemistry, and relentless determination.
“Our goals are clear,” Kieran said. “We want to compete at our best, push ourselves to the limit, and represent Australia with pride.”
Every international tournament is more than a competition — it’s a statement. It shines a light on the incredible skill, discipline, and dedication of athletes living with disability. It inspires the next generation and builds a legacy that lasts long after the final whistle.
Powering Possibility
At Allara Support Services, and through my own platform, I’ve always believed in using business and community to create real impact.
Right now, the most meaningful way to support these athletes is by helping fund their journey to compete on the world stage. International competition comes with significant costs; travel, equipment, training, and logistics, and every contribution makes a real difference.
Every player has a story of resilience and determination. By supporting their journey, we’re saying loud and clear: you deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated on the world stage.

Breaking Barriers
As Kieran reminded me, while the sport is growing, challenges still exist; from access to facilities and funding, to opportunities for high-level competition. But every act of support helps break those barriers down.
“If you’re thinking about Powerchair Hockey, just go for it,” he said. “It’s more than a sport, it’s a community, a challenge, and a chance to push yourself further than you imagined.”
Together, we can help power possibility, on and off the court.
